With a Bachelor of Science (Construction Management) from RMIT, Steven has over 15 years- experience working as a Commercial Manager and Contracts Administrator for tier one and two builders.
With Australian and international experience, Steven worked on various types of projects including residential, commercial and retail with project values up to $500M. While working in the industry, Steven was also involved in reviewing projects affected by the combustible cladding audit.
‘I always had an interest in IT and technology and came to realise that the tools required to efficiently carry out work duties were not available, particularly with regards to the management and compliance of fire regulations during construction’ he says.
With the help of a friend with a strong background in technology, Steven co-founded Ctrldoc, a technology company dedicated to building customised software solutions for the construction industry.
‘Working closely with trades, builders and consultants, we help connect people and provide them with the tools they need to track projects progress and quality. All of our team comes from a construction background; our first-hand experience means we understand process and how to make it more efficient,’ he says.
Steven enjoys all aspects of running a business, particularly meeting new clients and learning about their business challenges to translate into product features and new product development.
‘We seek client feedback and work closely with our development team to improve our products, and bring new features and products to market, in order to help our clients work more efficiently, achieve compliance and better QA outcomes,’ he says.
With a Bachelor of Environments (Architecture) and a Master of Construction Management, Tim worked in a range construction industry roles before joining the Ctrldoc team in 2019. These included on-site administration, domestic and international procurements, stakeholder liaison, assessment and analysis. During his career in construction, Tim developed a strong interest in systems and management software so the opportunity for him to join Ctrldoc was a perfect career shift.
‘With experience as part of the quality management process across various projects, having the opportunity to implement these learnings into an upcoming and growing software company was an exciting one,’ he says.
Tim enjoys receiving client feedback about how Ctrldoc’s software provides the exact solution they’ve been searching for, and he also enjoys the challenge of developing and implementing product updates.
‘One of my goals with Ctrldoc is to push the development of the platform so that it becomes the number one choice in Australia,’ he says.
In the meantime, Tim enjoys working with the supportive Ctrldoc team.
‘We’re a tight-knit group who support each other in growing and developing the business. With our on-the-ground industry experience, we’re able to extend strong support to our clients – not only in their use of the platform but also in their business growth.’
